Nothing generates raw power like a Linde hydrostatic and on the 1401 series trucks, dual Linde variable displacement axial-piston hydraulic pumps, flanged directly to engine, deliver oil volume and pressure. Two Linde variable displacement axial-piston hydraulic wheel-motors use half of this oil volume to crank out massive torque. The remaining oil volume supplies the truck's working hydraulic system. Linde engineers have designed these trucks with a minimum service life of 20,000 operating hours, roughly equal to 750,000 highway miles. Many of our customers far exceed this life expectancy with their Linde trucks.




On all Linde 1401 series trucks, our hydrostatic drive, not the engine, is primarily responsible for accelerating and decelerating the machine in both directions of travel as well as for powering up our 100% hydrostatic steering and working hydraulic systems. This allows us to greatly limit required engine speed (RPM) over the course of the working day, resulting in fuel savings, extended engine life, reduced engine exhaust levels, noise emissions and reduced heat build-up, a telltale sign of design inefficiency. Linde hydrostatic drive not only accelerates the truck but at the same time uses "dynamic braking" to decelerate and stop the machine without the need for friction service brakes. It's all done via hydraulic flow and pressure, infinitely controlled by the truck operator. Linde patented twin-pedal directional controls or an optional single-pedal control with armrest mounted directional flipper-switch make it a breeze.

The Linde hydrostatic drive and truck working hydraulic system share a common sump which is totally sealed and pressurized. This exclusive design stops virtually 100% of abrasives, corrosives and moisture, often present in the ambient environment, from entering the hydraulic system and damaging the truck. Our standard filtration technology is highly advanced and capable of removing even the smallest, highly abrasive dust particles, such as alumina or kaolin for example. As a result these trucks only require hydraulic oil changes at 6000 operating hour intervals, more than twice the interval of typical competitive truck brands. It's all about productivity, up-time and reduced maintenance expense for the Linde customer.

Our hydrostatic drive system also benefits the environment since, as already mentioned previously, it directly contributes towards lower fuel consumption, reduced engine exhaust levels and noise emissions, reduced tire wear and dust, the elimination of brake and clutch dusts as well as the elimination of various fluids and filters which must frequently be replaced and recycled on conventional trucks in accordance with strict EPA mandates.
