Just purchased SpeeCo post hole digger and auger (9 inch) from Tractor and Supply. I was pleased with their help and advice. I have a Ford 8n. Our soil is heavy clay. This was my first hole digging experience. It took less than 2 minutes. I made sure that I only let it dig for a few inches and then lifted the boom. Electric wires are located near by. These are four feet down, I went just a tad over 36 inches. I found the weight of the apparatus combined with the screwing power of the auger more than enough to dig a hole quickly. And straight and with plenty of room for the post and packing. Other posts were dug near trees, these I made sure there were no roots near by and when encountered, stopped, turned off PTO and removed the offending root. Worked great.
